โA Woman would not find this funny in the least.โ Brilliant Dina :) My hubby loved that line! Such a bummer, particularly your squashed travel plans. You have such a good attitude AND the coolest, colorful art work above your cozy couch! And relishing new found-albeit not planned-
time to read and do what you do best-share! Wishing you a swift and full recovery. Imagining you swimming in a pool in June as your injury heals and youโre back on your sweet feet! XO, Marian
You are too kind, my friend-- thank you, and I appreciate the well wishes (and your husband's sense of humor)! Dreaming of a swimming pool! You'll have to come visit the artwork next winter if you happen to find yourself in Miami! xox
(I commented earlier but it looks like it didn't go through) You always have a positive outlook regardless of what happens. I don't think I would have made my own coffee the first morning and figured out how to transport in my robe... you are a great problem solver and a strong woman ๐
UGH NO Dina, I'm so sorry to hear this! Boy life can change in a split second. But as my dad used to say "this too shall pass".
I can totally relate to "the hair". I fractured my right hand shortly after I launched Uncommon Threads AND while packing up our house for a move. Right away, my mind went to --how will I do my hair?
Btw, I was also an anxious child (no surprise there I'm sure!).
Sending lots of love and get well wishes. xx Susan
Love this, Dina! I love the hair washing scene, the โmash up of The Game of Life and a game of chessโ, and the idea of more empathy for others with limitations. I think about that a lot when something is wrong with me physicallyโhow much I take for granted being well. I hope the recovery goes as smoothly as possible.
professional tip from someone who has been on crutches or a scooter too many times to count: start carrying a bag around with everything you "think" you might need from point A,B and C at point D. It absolutely sucks to go back to get something your forgot while on crutches.
On the last day of Nov 2025, after a great yoga class, during a brisk forest walk on my way to meet a friend for coffee, I severely sprained my ankle also by a little misstep.
Only now, nearly 5 months later, does my ankle feel almost fully recovered. I live in a house with 2 sets of stairs, and my husband works offshore half the time. So I feel for you. It was a tremendous set back for such a little misstep.
Wishing you a good recovery. Give yourself more time than you think though.
Oh Dina I'm only just reading this now (mid-catch up!), I'm SO sorry to hear about your injury, SO easily done, and that you didn't get to go to London (to be rescheduled, I'm sure!!โค๏ธ) โ sending all the love, patience (!) and super-speedy recovery wishes!! Hooray for wonderful husbands, good books, and lovely things to look forward to this summer (wish I could make one of your IRL events, the dream one day!!). HUGE hugs (also a Kate Bowler fan here! We must compare notes about her new book!!). Sending lots of love across the pond!!! ๐๐๐๐
Itโs not easy being sidelined and I am truly so very sorry about the loss of a well planned trip. I wish you a most speedy recovery and btw, loved all the photos! Look forward to seeing you soonโฆ
Ugh. This is so frustrating. Iโm sorry youโre dealing with it. I love that youโre still finding humor in the middle of it ๐ Youโre clearly doing your best, one workaround at a time, even if itโs wildly patience-sucking. May 13th sounds like such a great event. You are so right about it still being challenging to cut through the noise. I would have loved to attend, but weโre heading to Nice/Monaco for a work trip with my husband. Canโt wait to hear all about it!

Thank you, Wendy, and something tells me you would have found a way!! xx

I didnโt know that about your hand- that must have been so hard! And your dad was a wise man- I hear my momโs voice telling me the same.
PS- love the way we think alike- gotta have good hair! xx

Thanks so much, Karen! I keep saying I will never take mobility for granted again!
Oh no! Sending healing vibes
Appreciate, Cheryl!
So sorry Dina. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thanks so much, Susan! Fingers crossed Iโll be able to walk in the sand this summer!
Ugh! Dina! Take good care, lady. Sending you lots of love from waaaay over here!
Thank you, Nada! Iโll take it! xx

Yes, I was carrying around a canvas tote! Now mostly down to one crutch so Iโve freed up a have- ahh the small wins!

Sending so much love and healing! Of course by the time you read this, I will likely have sent you several audio texts xx
Thank you, and keep them coming! xx
