Loved this Dina! So poignant and I completely relate. I was actually in Rome too when I was 21 with my aunt. I think about what I have accomplished since then and how much more I can do with all this accumulated knowledge. I think 85 year old Dina is going to be incredibly proud of her past 30 years and asking, “What’s next?!?”!
Thanks, Gwen! So many wonderful memories! I for one can't wait to see all of the amazing things you will do! And I love your version of 85 year old Dina! xx
This is such a touching and honest essay written through the thoughtful reflection of the past, present and that curious eye toward the future. I think we can all relate as we look back at photos and wish we could share our wisdom with the sensitive and tentative woman we were back then. It seems the portrait is actually a critical piece of your life and was waiting to be excavated at just the right moment. I’m glad your mom saved it for you!
Thank you so much, Dina! It was such a strange sensation to pull out this piece of history having no initial recollection of it. I am so glad she saved it too- some of the other stuff, not so much!
Thank you for sharing and always being honest and brave. XO
Thank you so much for being here! I appreciate you!
Love this. What a moment, face to face with that younger self. Thank you for sharing it and putting this tenderness around it for all of us.
It was truly something- such a flood of feelings and memories! She gave me so much to think about... Thank you, my friend. xx

So happy you enjoyed, Christine! Means a lot to me- thank you!
I hope it finds a home in your apartment — it feels like a brilliant reminder of how far you’ve come.
It just might...xo
