You reminded me that I want to schedule a CT Scan! Excellent and much needed information here - definitely something we need to focus on and share with women everywhere. ❤️
This is so so good, and so so important and so so well written (personally touching, practically so helpful). And I am absolutely standing with you and inspired to follow along with you on your list – very much more to say, but just thank you for this.❤️
I’m so happy it was helpful- I learned a lot while writing it and am now much more aware of the signs and symptoms. We have to be vigilant, particularly as our risk rises post-menopause…
I love this advice, but I just need to point out a few things about ultraprocessed foods (UPF). Not all of them must be avoided for heart health. In fact, many of them, including tofu, tempeh, and whole wheat bread, should be part of a heart-healthy diet. While there is a classification for processed foods known as NOVA, it hasn't been scientifically validated although that doesn't keep it from being used in studies, most of which are observational in nature and cannot prove that UPF cause chronic diseases. In addition, NOVA doesn't consider nutrition at all. Just because a food has added vitamins and minerals, like many breakfast cereals, including whole wheat varieties, doesn't mean it should be avoided. I hope that's helpful!

Thanks so much for the clarification, Elizabeth. I appreciate your weighing in, and will read more…
So much to stay on top of, and as we have discussed, we have to be our own advocates! Now go schedule that test! xo
