Oh this is so wonderful, Dina! Nana Rose sounds like she was the COOLEST (and the kindest, and the coolest because she was the kindest ... you know what I mean!!). I love this all so much. And I SO relate, to SO much, too—you capture so much of all the feelings, so beautifully. (And "senior citizens" at 55?!!!! Seriously?!! But then, also, why the offence? Etc. etc.) .... And that you remembered the lunchbox when it came to your niece ... oh, I LOVE THIS. And I am so excited for your book (just saying). Happy, wonderful new year (now!!) to you and all yours!! This was SUCH a treat to start the new year's reading with! 💖 XXXX
Happy New Year! She was the best, and a beauty-loving fashionista- always so put together and yes, always kind! So glad it was relatable- that sign gave me all sorts of feelings! It's good to know we are not alone on this crazy road! More here on the book SOON! xoxox
I love reading your thoughtful perspectives because there is always a good story and a willingness to tie the past and present together beautifully. Well done as always!!!
Thank you Christine, and right back at you- it's wonderful to be in such very good company! And can't wait! Thrilled to have you along on the ride, and looking forward to your book too! It's going to be a GOOD year! xx
Your Nana was so sweet! I remember having dinner with your family at their condo. She made ditalini with sardines and breadcrumbs. I had never had it before and loved it, just like your Mom’s escarole and bean soup. Getting older is a state of mind and learning to deal with the physical ailments. Happy holidays.
Awww I wish I remembered that pasta- it sounds amazing! I probably shunned it b/c of the sardines, which I now love! And omg that soup was the best! Definitely a state of mind... Merry Christmas!
Thank you! It's so interesting how some of those past stories/memories can be unearthed in the most unexpected ways- a random conversation, a scent or taste, etc. Always a trip to rethink and tie it all together!

I LOVED Bobby Sherman and had a poster of him on my teenaged wall. But then, I’m older than you!
Ha! I mean, looking back, he was pretty cute!
He looked like a girl. Explains a lot.
I just spit out my coffee!! LOLOLOL
Well Done Dina. Nicely written.
Thank you, Bill! Wishing you a beautiful Christmas and all good things in the coming year!
